700k worth of fake sneakers seized

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Just smuggle it? More than $700,000 worth of counterfeit Nike sneakers, hidden behind cartons of toilet paper on a ship from Hong Kong, was seized last week at the Port of Oakland, U.S. customs officials said Friday.

U.S. Customs and Border Enforcement officials said a shipping container that arrived at the port Sept. 30 was supposed to contain $20,674 worth of kitchen cabinets, but when customs officers opened it, they discovered the fake shoes stashed behind 30 cartons of industrial toilet paper.

The 568 cartons of footwear were worth an estimated $704,000, customs officials said.

An in-depth interpretation of Lupe Fiasco's street single off of The Cool, Dumb It Down. I was scouring various hip-hop sites and sources for some interesting, yet-to-be-told Lupe tidbits when I came across this Hip-Hop DX article. I'm surprised this wasn't posted before:

"As many of you (should) know, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool was one of my favorite albums of 2007. In a post on my Blogspot upon the leak of his debut Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor, I briefly touched on why he's so far ahead of his peers, but a revisited in-depth listen to "Dumb It Down" makes me feel obligated to do so again. While speaking to my man Alias on the phone last night, we were chopping it up about how the first verse of the song really breaks down his relevance and existence in the rap game through the song. My blogging homie J Burnett [1] said that when he interviewed Lupe for XXL, that he said that he intentionally made this track as complex as possible, but once you really absorb it, it's crazy. The verse (taken from OHHLA, whattup Flash!), with reference points bolded:
I'm fearless, now hear this, I'm earless (less)
and I'm peerless (less), which means I'm eyeless
which means I'm tearless which means my iris
resides where my ears is, which means I'm blinded
But I'ma find it, I can feel it's nearness

Lupe claims that he's earless and eyeless, which means he's so far off from what's going on around him in the industry, that he's relatively oblivious to it - he can't see or hear it. He also claims that he's peerless, slyly implying that he's ahead of the curve. The car in the song is a metaphor for hip-hop, and where it's going. He says he's going to find "it," meaning the rap industry and his place in it, but that he's also trying to stay away from it, like a chicken or a deer.

Lupe's "not a listener or a seer, so [his] windshield smear(s)" - he's too far off to understand/comply with where hip-hop is going, so his viewpoint is unclear. So, he sarcastically suggests, "Here you steer, I really shouldn't be behind this, clearly cause my blindness": essentially, "Hey, why don't you [place rapper here] go ahead and do this rap shit, because I'm somewhere else." He then basically says that rap's windshield is some minstrel show shit (word to LB), and that it's so misguided itself that the car's whole grill is full of roadkill - also implying that it's run over emcees like him who are a chicken or a deer, and dare to do things differently.

With this struggle between staying away from an industry that seems so offbase from his own beliefs and wanting to find his place, he cleverly alludes to The Matrix, when Neo had to choose between two pills to determine his destiny and that of the other world: Lupe took both. And this struggle will forever haunt him - "Awaken at war, 'till I'm restin' in peace."

Give me a late pass if y'all want, or if this was painstakingly obvious to y'all all along. But with how much I was already amazed at the wordplay, rhyme schemes and delivery in the verse, I'm trippin' even more at how metaphoric that shit is once I break it down. Mr. Editor, sir, have Lupe read this and let me know how accurate/inaccurate my interpretation is to his original intentions, 'cause I wanna know.

Do you guys have any interpretations of the meaning behind the last two verses? Also, any other verses you guys had to revisit much later befofre you really understand what the fuck he/she was saying?

These Pictures are actually the second time around.. but man i have you know these 2 are the most humble artist i have met.. they actually get to a show early.. they open themselves for conversation, they sign autographs, they take pictures i mean overall i was able to speak to 2 artist that are impacting my life very deeply, without body guards without known of that bull.. i really cant put much of this experience to words. just know that for me this is like meeting and talking to a person like, Martin Luther king, 2pac, Malcolm x, etc. and they throw such an amazing show! so much energy. and they both make the crowd feel at home and they make us laugh.. so cool.

it was another exciting day of work at apple.. extremely busy day, People just packed in the store waiting to be helped. i was in the back of the store checking people in for there appointments, and there was this couple that comes up to the desk, i asked " do you guys need any help with anything?" the replied "no thank you" and the man looks at the I-Mac that is on the desk and is captivated by how vibrant and clear the screen is he says" how beautiful is this." i say " yea it is such a nice screen it kinda just draws you in, you can play around with it if you like the Internet works on it and everything." so he does. he gets on the Internet and checks his yahoo account. he reads the latest news that is on there it had a post about "Gustav" the hurricane that the news has been saying just might hit New Orleans again.. so he reads the title and says " man how sad it looks like Orleans is gonna get hit again" i look at him and just get kinda sad cause i know how devastating it would be if they did. and i don't remember how it came up but i ended up finding out he was a Police Officer. now he said another name that when i heard it i knew it was important..but i just cant remember what his position was. we began to talk and i found out he actually was in Orleans a day after Katrina had hit.. we talked for about half hour we talked about police work in general, our government, Guns, the looting and sadness he saw when he was in Orleans, and the over all negatives and positives about This Country. One thing that stood out to me about this man is when he looked at me and said " Don't believe everything you hear on the media.. cause it did not take us 5 days to get to Katrina.. i know this because i was there 1 day after Katrina hit i saw people getting helped by the brave officers that were there. i was on duty from 6am to 12am every single day for a hole year, i saw helicopters in the air picking people up, dropping officers down i was apart of all that..the thing that people don't understand is that all the drug dealers were taking back there turfs shooting at random, killing people at random." and this really changed a lot of my perspectives on things. so with this said.. whatever your views are about this country bad or good at the end of the day there are people that are greedy, sleazy and will take full advantage of the less fortunate. but there are still some good people out there trying to stay true to themselves. and tho's are the people i support from here all the way to japan. To me positive has no color, gender, or relgious thought they are as simple as the word.

There really isn't much to say.. but that I've stood in front of myself for years and never saw myself becoming what i am now.. it was a stab in the dark that made me realize that i was at the bottom of a hole that i dug myself. searching for something that i knew couldn't be found, basically thats my insanity. reaching for a result knowing that i have continuously made the same error one to many times before. but I've come to realize that what i once precieved to be the end was only the beginning of something that will radiate and consume my entire self, the knowledge that i have made apart of me, gave me the purpose to live my life with no edge and to never live as if i am at the edge of my very existence.. life for me will not be measured by time. it will be measured and scaled on how far i let my soul reach and how far i let me eyes see..for me and myself i have made death an option. so basically for me

Hopefully you all know that i love history.if you don't, then now you do. not just Americas History.. but we as a human race period.

well i was watching History Channel (My Ultimate Favorite channel) and they were giving a program on our dependency on oil.. it was also giving insight on how we can use other fuels as means for transportation and heating etc.(wind power, solar, corn, etc) as for me i found it very cool.. cause there are so many people out in this world with such amazing minds coming up with amazing inventions that are not only better for the Environment, but much more efficient, less coast effective, and over all. more futuristic ideas that well better the entire human race..

after the show ended, i just thought how far we have come, from being so primitive. to making fire, making the switch from horse and carriage, to automobiles, we build through earth making tunnels.. we make huge dams, we build machines that sore through the sky, we make buildings that go beyond our sights comprehension.. all of these wonderful modern marvels..

but at the same time i thought.. and sorta laughed at the thought that we actually really haven't made any real break through.. other than all of the really cool inventions that we have.. other than the airplane, and the space ship. what is any different from the roman times.. they had sewer systems, Aqueducts. everything we know today we took because of there genius Design. the Chinese,the Egyptians. all of these cultures masters of there craft and all apart of our everyday lives..

It kills me tho.. because there is one thing that the ancient ancestors did that has definitely withstood its test of time.. and that is to still think like barbarians.. we still resolve our issues with the blood shed of innocent life.. now to me, it doesn't matter whether who did what.. continues human death is not the way. i feel like with all this technological breakthroughs we have.. we forgot to upgrade the best piece of mechanics we humans have..

Our Brains.. "When you do things right people wont be sure you've done anything at all,Right and Wrong are just words, what matters is what you do."

FLOW Hip-Hop Music Showcase Hosted by NY's Finest Dj Lazy K


The FLOW event is a Hip-Hop showcase that entails 12 contestants to compete for $2000 cash and many more prizes. Each contestants perform 2 songs and are critiqued and judged by 5 judges on creativity, structure, organization of music and image. The 5 judges of this event are from Atlantic Records, Famous Firm, Chung King Studios and two local music lovers. Their will also be five opening acts performing in the event from different states on the east coast.

Now... to be eligible to perform in the event all contestants has to submit 2 mp3 tracks and a non-refundable $75 fee.

To learn more about the event you could log onto the FLOW event myspace page and read Blog entries (myspace. com/flowevent2008). During the event their will be 3 camera crews and 2 photographers for coverage of the event and an interview of each contestants. The event is also a major networking tool for artists to build and network with industry players.

Welcome Ladies and gentelmen!

This is my first time every Blogging, and i must admit.. I'm excited.. My Extremely cool and great friend Kaycee from the wonderful femme fiasco's has itched me to want to make a Blog even tho i never told her. she made Blogging interesting and fun to me... i always read her blog and the femmes blog,(and many other blogs) so i thought up a concept came up with what i wanted to make my blog all about.. so here it is


Egyptian Rebirth~~~

No i am not Egyptian, but i have a huge fascination with Egyptian culture and how they took charge of there lives..
so basically even tho i know the Egyptians were brutal and sometimes thought of as evil people, they are known to be the most intelligent people of human history (next to the Chinese of course lol) so i want to bring that into our millennium i want to bring intelligence and strength back into the human race! yes i said HUMAN RACE! not just americans, not just Hispancs (which i am) not singling out anyone.. but bringing us forth as ONE earth, ONE race. as the egyptions did by building amazing structures in record times with there primitive tools..building more precise than we humans today, i would like to bring that power of thought back to us that has been lost for so many centurys.. so what i will be doing with this blog.. is one..attacking issues that i think are important.. and also showing my fun and none politacal side.. kinda like expressing how much i love anime,Hip-hop and all other kinds of genres of music.. posting events that i attend, kinda like stuff with my modeling career.. pictures or videos of concerts i attend.. ETC.! so hopefully that gives you a lil into my thoghts and just a little on who i am.. i will not be bias in any way with this blog.. i will but as fair and truthful as i can.. so i leave you with that.. and hopefully ppl will care enough to read this blog..
